PokerRoom.com is back

The biggest publicly traded online gambling firm PartyGaming plc and Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG, who is renowned for its online poker room PartyPoker.com and its sports betting brand Bwin have relaunched PokerRoom.com.

In November 2011, Josef Rantamäki, Bwin’s SEO Manager announced on Tweeter “Wow! www.pokerroom.com will be relaunched and once again offer real money poker games.”

A representative said that they were making use of Pokerroom.com as an affiliate but as it was generating traffic, they simply decided to relaunch it. Pokerroom.com is currently in a soft-launch stage as the Company wants to see how it will perform.

PokerRoom.com was founded in 1999 as an online poker cardroom and licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. It was the first online poker site to offer multi language customer service support.

PokerRoom.com had been operating for 10 years when it was closed down in April 2009. This was due to the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. Due to this legislation, the Ongame network and therefore PokerRoom.com decided to move out of the business, which then made way for PokerStars, Full tilt and Ultimate Bet to prosper in the US market.
